Jason Barnett is a British Natural Bodybuilding Federation National Champion and twice runner-up in the World Natural Bodybuilding championships. He is dedicated to being a natural for life bodybuilder and has earned respect in the UK and USA for his physique and achievements without the assistance of drugs. He competes in Britain's two natural bodybuilding federations: The British Natural Bodybuilding Federation (BNBF) and the Natural Physique Association (NPA). Both of these federations test their athletes by polygraph and have random drug testing. As a champion and firm favourite in both federations, Jason is always in the spotlight.

How He Started

Jason's bodybuilding career began at the tender age of 11 when challenged to a set of press-ups. He was the only boy in his class who could do anything that remotely resembled one and managed 15. This sparked an interest in resistance training that continued to grow. At 13, he learned that despite being the third smallest teenager in his school, he could lift weights that 17 and 18 years olds could just manage. A teacher was so impressed with Barnett's ability that he asked him to join a weight training group. As a teenager Jason grew stronger and outgrew the group and was asked to join a local gym. Here his love of bodybuilding really began under the guidance of the gym owner, Fred Walker, who taught him the history of the sport and what it was about.

Since then :

•  Jason has been placed in the top three positions in natural British final competitions over the last consecutive seven years

•  He has won over 10 Best Presentation awards for most innovative routine in competitions

•  He has been the most consistent natural bodybuilder in placing in the top three in competitions against drug-assisted competitors

•  And has competed in the more competitions than any other bodybuilder in Britain over the last seven years

When He's Not Competing

Well-known throughout his home city of Bradford, West Yorkshire as a natural for life bodybuilder, Jason holds local and regional seminars in natural bodybuilding and nutrition. He has also given talks on health and fitness in local schools and has even guest-posed in primary schools. He will make a permanent mark at his training gym, Planet Fitness, where he will be featured in a mural in the next couple of months. In addition, his seemingly endless energy and compassion extends to Jason works full-time at a special needs school in Bradford where he assists children with learning and behavioural difficulties in their studies and sport.

What Next?

Jason wants to continue educating people on what natural bodybuilding is really about: and the key fact you don't need steroids to build muscle. His next competitive goal is to win the overall title and turn professional. Future plans include a testimonial book, a radio show and television work in the UK and USA.
