The aspiration of the British Triathlon Federation is to have all Triathlon Clubs accredited, all inclusive, open to children and have a structured development programme for members.  Whilst this is an aspiration it is achievable as is being proved by clubs throughout the UK. One model club is the Rugby Triathlon Club based in the West Midlands. The club provides structured training to over 100 children and adults alike with regular sessions being run by British Triathlon Qualified coaches on a weekly basis. The British Triathlon Regional Development Managers have now been allocated Triathlon Coaches to be used to develop coaching within the 9 regions of the UK. This pilot scheme is being used to plug coaching gaps that previously existed and is now ensuring quality coaching can reach all.

Achieving the Club Mark and Star Mark accreditations is a quality mark that ensures the club has the right managerial and coaching structures and works to provide safe and interesting training to its members. Rugby Triathlon Club as well as attracting new members to the club training is also organising the Rugby Sprint Triathlon in August to attract new participants. With events filling quickly and the interest in the sport growing as Beijing Aug 08 and London 2012 gets closer it is a great time to join a club and get involved in training and events. For more information visit the BTF website at www.britishtriathlon.org
